another month of hols've passed, and munus just seemed so long ago. haven't been doing much lately. mostly staying at home watching tv, playing games etc. signed up for some part-time work, though so far haven't done any office work yet. waiting for them to call me up. did some surveys though, as in finding ppl to do a 14-page long survey. took the easy way out by making a soft copy of the survey n sending it to diff ppl, and so din go out and do it the painstaking way.

some interesting stuff lately

1. chelsea broke the fa cup! :D

2. major signings by man utd. hope nani anderson n hargreaves dun turn out to be flops like ballack and sheva. henry's leaving though. interesting to see how arsenal cope with it.

3. retirement of jason mcateer. isnt' really a big piece of news, but his request to cut the pizza into 4 slices becos he's not that hungry'll always be remembered.

4. long penalty shootout btw england and netherlands u21. 12-13 to the dutch if i'm not wrong.

dengue outbreak in singapore. at least now i can claim to be immune to 1 of the 4 strains of the virus. never want to be admitted again. hospital can be so boring if u're feeling up and well by the second day. the food's surprisingly not bad though. prob cos i haven't been eating well. pls do not get sick over dengue, unless of course you've time to waste (like ns guys). so take care!

79 outing today (or yesterday). not a bad turnout actually, around 10 ppl or so. sat at ben and jerry's for a few hours, listening to the same few songs being looped a few times, chit-chatting with others (no no find it gross over yc's vivid account of dissection, and wj made some insensitive remark about dead ppl becoming fertilisers...) left earlie to get back home. hope you guys enjoyed yourselves!

End of the first yr, finally...

munus rox. back from kl after 3 days of fun and laughter there, but first, other things.

the first yr finally ended with pdcp, munus, fa cup final and yff update for wk 38 (finally..). man utd won the title, chelsea won 2 cups, and either liverpool or milan'll be europe champs. great achievement for the red devils, since they dun have to financial power of that russian. now, time to see likes of hargreaves, torres and huntelaar in the theatre of dreams next yr!

yff. well, a bit disappointing second half for me, though i still managed to stay in the top 100. so, final rank: 82, with 3473 pts. not sure if i'd be playing again next yr. see how things go.

pdcp's boring. reallie. the tutorials may be fun for some parts, but the lects... and the exam qns reminded me of the admission essay test for med last yr. about communication and stuff. the less said of it, the better.

oh, that reminds me. med application results out for this yr. congrats to those who've got in, and all the best for the rest still waiting. join medicamp 2007! the year ones esp the exco ppl're working very hard for it.

finally, munus. 3 days at universiti of malaya just dun seem enough. interesting how the um ppl bringing us to their place on the first evening made us wait outside some kfc for an hour during dinnertime, and having a futsal match on the first night there, when we're not fully rested. nvm. overall nus lost rather badly, but supposed that's been the norm (our seniors 2 yrs ago also won 1 game like us). we won tennis. played in futsal and bball. futsal's memorable, making 2 saves though letting in an irritating goal, and the um team came back from 5-1 down to make it 5-5, winning on pens. frustrated with the ref for extending the time every quarter, from 7 mins per quarter to 10 min plus. bball, well, disappointing again. had lots of fun mingling with other med ppl too. noe more ppl, and noe others better. like how my roomie teck tee's so afraid of xiao3 qiang2... and kl reallie's lots of land. so many huge shopping malls like midvalley and one utama. had dinner at a & w. long time since i tried it. watched soocer at bangsar too. not at the open-air area though, arrived just too late, and too many ppl, so locked out. we ended up watching at some cafe in the bangsar shopping mall. we'll get the cup next yr! anw quite irritated by some of the m'sians (not the um ppl), after a few of them just cut queue when we're waiting for taxis. taxi fee surprisingly cheap though, and someone even asked how they earned their living (loudly, and we've to close his mouth...) reached home late, about 3am this morn. hope everyone arrived back well! for photos, check out med blog. they should be coming soon...

The past few days

Past few days've been fun. Out of home at least for few hours each day. Tue'd stayover at glenn's house. Cheers glenn for accommodating all of us, and hope we weren't disturbing the peace and tranquility of your house (esp during the absolutely vital sleeping hours, when we're cheering and groaning and cheering again over the match). Went sch for bball today too. Reallie cool to mix with new ppl like cliff jianli louis siva rah alicia and many more whom i've never reallie interact with throughout the yr. Even went late night (or earlie morn) pool (which's terrible, my playing, though somehow got one game which me and amir managed to win without striking a single ball). Bball's great! Tiring though playing more than 2 hours (or 3, for those who came earlier), though everyone played very well. Have to say, teck tee's very injury-prone today. Beware of swinging hands next time, and cut your toenails k!

Oh, and the match. Bet most of u soccer pips already read about it. Def much nicer than the chelsea-liverpool one. Few lessons learnt from the game:

1. if u can't defend, u just need to score more than the opponent.

2. never give up, even when u're down against a tough opponent. just try and try, and u can break them down sooner or later. (side note: rooney rox, ronaldo rox, kaka n dida.. why do they've to be in milan's team??)

Vivas list out, at least for 2 tracks. To those distinction vivees, congrats, and show off to the profs why u're there next wk k! To those who just need a few more marks to pass, jiayou! Don't get demoralised over it k. Just remember how the red devils drove on to beat bayern some 8 yrs ago, and milan on tue (their time).

Well, after being a bit pissed last night, today's scores are much better. Mood improved greatly with a chelsea draw away at newcastle, after a totally disappointing 30 odd pts this week. Back to three pts lead now!

Post-exam programme aren't up and running yet. Played a round of soccer in sch on fri (which's damn fun, though many many injuries, defensively appalling, and legs aching after that), went iceskating with og after the exams (the thunderstorm make it not wise to play soccer), and watched 4 soccer matches and a few movies (at home though). Ecp tmr. Hope weather stays fine!

All the best everyone who still's a few more papers to go. The hols's here! And to the juniors, hope the essay went well today, and all the best for your interviews! To the dearest band juniors, train hard but enjoy yourselves k! GWH's just around the corner only (11th of may's the day!)

Since life these days sort of revolves around anat biochem physio with some entertainment from epl and yff, shall comment on the latter. 3 pts ahead, which's still ok. See chelsea slipping up in their next few matches (couple of games against arsenal bolton newcastle west ham). Still, the most interesting stuff this wk's how arsenal managed not to score after shooting 29 times, with 11 on target against west ham. Their first loss at emirates (and to think i invest in like 5 of their players this wk?)...

Curses to them. Italian soccer's already in a sorry state with match-fixing and death of a policeman not long ago. And now they wanna join in by attacking man utd fans, even innocent ones, after some of them retaliated to roma fans' taunts and insults. For more info just check out bbc sports, skysports, or read today's papers later on. To make things worse, italian football chief abete came out n defended those police when the whole world who watched the game or followed the reports knew the truth, saying boll**ks like them owing "gratitude to our law enforcers and I don't believe those who try to make games safe can be crucified in this manner". Law enforcers, yeah rite. Make games safe, sure.

Boring april fool session, cos sunday, and din go sch... There's always next yr!

End of a month, a crucial month ahead...

Sorrie, have been neglecting this blog. Just dun feel like updating lor. But now, feel quite elated seeing man utd coming out from behind to claim a fantastic victory over blackburn, and ben foster showing why he's a true red devil by keeping out chelsea so far.

Anw study break now, after cas have ended. Damn weird. Did quite well in a track that i thought i've done quite badly, and did poorly for another which i thought i've done well. The remaining 2 wks or so must jiayou, esp for biochem. 190 marks, all written, isn't funnie. At least more than half of the other 2 papers're mcqs, and the answers're given for them (just that they're hidden nicely among 4 others).

Back to football. Last 6 wks or so of epl and yff, followed by fa cup and champions league final. Clavicle fracture to vidic isn't gd at all, and my yff luck just sux lately. Whatever. As long as mu keeps winning i dun care less. Eh the chelsea match on the 9th of may i think. Who wanna go watch outside? :P

Yea, gd job for beating boro, their 2nd game in 3 days. So, shall add more games to watch after the 18th of apr:

1. Mu vs chelsea. Postponed due to fa cup semifinal. Will be some time in may i heard.

2. The fa cup final. Come on. No one expects watford to beat man utd rite, esp when foster can't play against the reds. Just too bad chelsea got into the semifinal as well. Whatever.

Study break... what an oxymoron

Yea, the cas's finally ended. 1 more month of snell and guyton bef a gd long break. :) Went out with anat grp after the anat paper to sentosa, and my whole body's still aching now (prob bball on fri and soccer just now doesn't reallie help). Still, must start building up my fitness if I reallie wanna play in munus. Dun think I can last long in any match now, seeing how I was left totally stranded by the opposing team in the last game we played this morn. But I still scored a fine header against the under-10s, my first goal since dun noe when... :p Soccer and bball rox!

Watched the replay of the mu vs europe XI match on fri. Both teams played very relaxed, as if they're on their own training ground or sth. Was a fun match to watch, as both teams just showed off all the skills without the pressure of the game. Like ronaldo stumbling over his stepovers, scholes holding the ball in his own pen box for like 2 mins bef making an horrendous backpass to his keeper (lucky heaton made a fine tackle), the crowd booing all the liverpool players whenever they touched the ball... How i wish sch'd be like that. No pressure of tests and exams.

Started to play spider solitare lately. =D Irritating game. Can't say I like that challenge all the time, esp when u open up cards that u can't do anything with (like kings for instance).

Things to do after the 18th of apr

Since i'm now too hungry (din have a gd breakfast) and bit too sian to study anymore, shall blog a bit bef lunch.

Still 9 pt lead after a tough away game at liverpool. Another sub-par performance, another last min goal, 1 red card, another 3 pts. The title just gets closer!

Ca mood now. Yff isn't helping, if my top 2 scorers are a reserve arsenal striker who onlie plays becos of injures, suspensions etc, and 1 rio ferdinand, there's indeed sth wrong with my team this wk. Whatever.

Playing cards bit more frequently in sch, ever since i started bringing cards. :p

Despite being outwitted, outlast, outfought by some team that got thrashed 4-0 the last time out, mu still pulled off a win out of nothin', thanks for some great saves by vds and a moment of brilliance by ronaldo. Think this'll be the yr of the reds!!! :p

Sch starting soon, in a few hours in fact. 2 wks to ca, less than 2 mths to pros. Must jiayou! Nothin' interesting about this post at all, but just want to end off with a short riddle: what non-colourless thing won't form a shadow when a light shines on it?

That reminds me, to that pair of sisters' riddle some posts below, ans's becos that girl (forgot the name) wanna see the handsome man again, so she staged another funeral, this time of her sis, as she thought she can see him this way...

"So? I'm reading, not fishing!"

"But still, I'd have to take u into custody, as you've all the equipment. For all I know you can start fishing anytime."

Another weird injury: ronaldo, man utd's one, not the other fat one, may be out for this wk's game due to a foot injury after kicking water bottles on wed's win over lille. Apparently he wasn't too pleased to be subbed off. Lesson learnt: control ur emotions!

After finding out a reallie perfect reason of joinin' the paeds dept at nuh (can play the swings n slides till u're needed at some ward or bed), here's one reason to go into sports med. The no. of injuries that footballers've's er normal, but the reasons for which they see the doc're sometimes quite... bizarre. If the likes of cudicini n seaman can damage his knee or break some bone while reaching for the tv remote (robbie keane ruptured his knee cartilage too for the same reason), some other keeper who can pretend that a jar of salad cream's a football by using his foot to stop it from falling onto the floor (n thus got some foot injury), another keeper who dislocated his jaw while screaming ar his defenders, n a whole bunch of players who got injured celebrating (ring trapped in fence n thus finger dislocation, breaking collarbone while jumping with teammates...), there'll be no shortage of demand for top class sports surgeons... 79 outing last night. Quite a few went: me jo glo ws (as usual late by like 2 hours... but earlie for the cip today!! :D) wj kenni yk qq jy laura jas (who came later after dinner). Had dinner at billy bombers. First time there, food's not bad, free cards some more.. Yc called too! :p Then as usual some of us'd concoct something out of what's available to play zhong ji mi ma. Went river hongbao after that, took photos, checked out what's lucky for rabbits this yr (numbers 1 n 9, colours red brown n... orange? can't remember, but take that with a pinch of salt n sugar k!), n browsed thru the stuff on sale... Some of the food looked nice, though was too full to buy any.

Cip today. Overslept on the bus there. Nvm. Anw whole thing damn fun. Haven't played at the swings n slides for a long long time, made my first (n only) balloon sculpture too (cheers ws!), n folded my first heart (surprising simple, compared to cranes n boats). Think the m1s're more excited than the kids, esp during the preparation phase, when we're all making so much noise, esp the production line ppl (packing bags). Then keefe got his first (i doubt, but he said so) rejection by a girl who dun even look at him for his balloon, while me n bel're comparing who's the one frightening off the kids. Think everyone'd fun making the balloons, with a whole bunch of us staying behind to make puppies n bears n flowers. Met sathish on my way home too (gd thing that the train me kal bel're taking terminated at kranji). Din change much, that guy, though what about us?

Anw, on mar 13, mu'll be playing against an Europe XI led by marcelo lippi, to commemorate mu's 50 yrs in europe, n some treaty of rome (which laid foundations for EU blah blah blah). Players confirmed so far're becks (his first game back at old trafford? not sure about that), gerrard, carragher (imagine the look on benitez's face if they get injured... or is it their ploy to injure mu players??), and lyon's coupet, abidal n juninho. Should be an explosive match!

For those who still don't noe... HARRY POTTER COMING OUT!!! :p 13th july for the movie (order of the pheonix), 21st for the last bk (deathly hallows). Must watch! Idea for medicamp: the more bks of harry potter the m1s bring for the ogls to read, the more pts they get (10 pts for a bk? =D)

Haha. V day on wed. Hope everyone's enjoyed it. I din, though it's great to give n receive presents! :p

Jo n jas crashed the practical lesson yesterday. Din join them, as mine's first shift, and went out later with my anat grp (just 5 of us: me john shawn kal bel). Cadavers can be quite interesting rite (esp if they do sth about the smell). Onlie hope they dun frighten anyone off med, like what john's trying to do to the band juniors we met at pasta last night. Why talk about the huge stack of books n notes? Should welcome them with open arms lor, so that we've housemen to bully some 10 yrs later.. :P

Anw we went mind cafe first. Board games rox!!! Got this funny word game which we've to guess the correct phrase by slowly reading out a whole bunch of nonsense (like hairy port errant heer saucer restone or sth like that). Also got this game (that's life i think), whereby we're supposed to pick up tiles along the way to the finish line, n see who gets the most pts. Some of us got negative pts, though somehow bel managed to make it without picking up any positive or negative nos. Got some other games too, like this card game where as long as there's 5 of a kind, we're supposed to ring a bell. We ended up playing with the bell! :p Talking about seeing a long lost cousin...

Then dinner at ps, n after that starbucks. Met the juniors (kuan khoon they all), n we'd a long chat about our families. Sigh. Realise all of us'd have some probs... No matter what, jia1 he2 wan4 shi4 qing1!

Haha. Due to er many many complaints about this beloved blog being stagnant, shall do a quick one right now.

Glad that mu still 6pts ahead now, despite not using their full squad against charlton. The loss of ars's bad. Never knew park can head, but who cares? Shan't comment on er other small teams like the blues. Had an absolutely wonderful yff wk too! All thanks to rosicky, who contributed more than half of my team's total score last time out with a late goal (ars damn lucky to beat wigan lor, but after all, they, like mu, are still a big team). Dun noe how still manage to stay in the top 100...

Sch's been.. routine. Totally routine. Though played more frequent cards n board games this term, all thanks to some crazy schedule that allows us to have like 6 hours of break in between lessons, medsoc rm for starting to loan out board games, amir who bring cards everyday to sch, n a fun-loving bunch of anat grp n og who love being bossy (*i'm the boss!!) n calculative (citadels, risk). Can't reallie say the workload's lighter this term, though the schedule does suggest so (head n neck spread out nicely, biochem n physio alternating). Though this can't be said for the upcoming cas...

The second term starts

Ok, haven't been here for quite a while, even though i've been online most of the time. Prob cos life's become more n more routine. Second term now, a rather short one. In a few wks time, everyone'll start saying omg, ca's just __ wks away. And first pros schedule out. 3 straight days of exam in apr. Whatever. And src ground just refuses to finish renovating, so can't play anything there. Played soccer once with other m1s at raffles hall (joel n yc came too). Got chased out though after a while, but played enough le. Then next day went back hc for campfire night (after goin' kbox with anat mates). Rain after rain after rain. Traffic jam all over the place, n had an indoor fire instead. The rain did stop for a while though, for the fireball to light up, which in fact's one of the nicest fireballs i've seen in hc. 04's the most alumni who came down!! =D

Hope for a mu victory n a chelsea loss this weekend!

Din update this blog for quite some time. Stupid earthquake, affected my internet connection to so many websites (blogger.com included). Nvm. Few things worth mentioning:

1. Mu opened up a nice 7 pt lead at the top, though that may become 4 pts by the end of today, uk time.

2. Got into top 50 for the 1st time for yff!!! =D Special mention goes to ronaldo of course.

Mon, went out with liysf ppl. Onlie charlene joanne n me. :p Went to this nice jap restaurant at marina sq which's some cool-looking dessert. Sorrie girls if i looked sian that day. Just tired, n sadd that mu lost the nite bef. They'll def buck up! Anw nice to see the london ppl again. Brought back fond memories of 2 yrs ago. Uk rox!

Then tue morn, yc came back. A few of us n mr lee met up with him at vivo (again). My lunch rox. Had veggie instead of the bread in my burger. Nvm. Just some mix-up with that cashier who asked if i wanted "low carb". :p Nvm. Anw great to see that he's doing great, n cool to noe more about med overseas. NUS should've 8 wks of "history of med" too. But everyone'd still spend their time finishing limbs bef the lect's even started, so kind of defeat the purpose. Still, they got to do dissection!!! Haha. Too bad we're in this conservative soc in which many many ppl think dead bodies aren't supposed to be used in our pursuit of medical knowledge...

Finally went for a haircut earlie this morn. Haven't cut it for months.

Went chalet @ costa sands downtown east from mon to wed with fellow aladdean listers. Weather sux, so stayed in bunk most of the time, but we dun mind though. :p Cards, ps2, arcade games, board games all the way!! Bridge rox, had some nice hands every now n then. Quite interesting the way we play. Got one time which 8 of us, or around there, formed power pairings, n there's lots of discussion, verbal n non verbal cues, n lots of "spread the love". Nvm. Played poker too, n this number game which we'd to find ways, arithmetically, to get some fixed no (say 21), using 4 cards. Last to get, gd luck. Er then think kenneth brought a nice ps2, n we played this hero-vs-gigantic-monster game, in which one hero's to find a way to kill a big big monster using climbing jumping shooting stabbing weak spots etc. We each took turns to play, n damn farnie when someone made a mistake by falling down a cliff or requiring 30 arrows to hit the bottom of the leg...

Then arcade games. DDR n mishimashi. :D Think someone took a video of a few ppl dancing on the mats. Mishimashi's just crazie. All the silly games. Favourites inc the wedding cake one, the dancing one, horse-racing...

Think the onlie outdoor stuff we did's escape. (We din play soccer!!! :S) First time there. Wet n wild's cool, n the bumper-cum-shooting-boats're just plain evil, esp when the earlier ppl got out n started shooting the powerful water guns at the side or splashing water from full water bottles onto our faces. Got quite wet though. Hope everyone's well n not feeling cold after that!

Board games late at night (or earlie in the morn). Risk's as usual scheming (madagascar put up a better fight than japan the last time round), n charades's just damn cool. Aaron esp, with his idea of what a farmhouse's.

So, biochem ca today. The onlie structured qn over, n can't say i do well. Sian. At least the mcq helped me get an overall C (according to a level standard.. hope i remember the gradings correctly.) Now 80 more mcqs to go bef a gd long hol.

Went clinicals last tue at cgh. Nice exp there, esp seeing how dr. gary (the medical officer i think) looked so stressed. Reallie hope we wun be the same in 6 yrs... Took 168 home from tampines afterwards. A great thanks to whoever that's that picked up my wallet! Replacing ic ezlink matric cashcard n money's damn troublesome. Cheers!!!

Haha. A great happie 19th bday to me! :p Finally, after like 13 yrs of education, i finally got to celebrate it on a proper sch day with no exams... Thanks guys for all the lovely notes n prezzies! Reallie made my day! Oh, a happie bday to qiqi too (one day older than me onlie!), and isabel, who turned 20th yesterday! Not fair that we're of the same age for onlie 4 days lor!

In quite a gd mood now, ahead of mu's game against chelsea. Still haven't decided if I should go watch. Quite pleased with yff, n even more delighted with ars's loss against bolton. But the wk isn't over. Hope liverpool n villa thrash their opponents this wed!!

Eh so 1 more wk to ca, 2 more to hols. Jiayou guys! 10 percent weightage + mcqs (onlie 1 short structured qn) can't be equal to a hell lot of stress rite? Though reallie, the amt of stuff to read up's horrible.

Previous wk's been rather eventful. Great badminton session when my entire pbl grp plus glo irene laura n khai pang came down during the pbl timing. Lots of fun playing with diff ppl. Just hope that I din reallie er piss any one off with the drop shots. I mean, they're damn fun lor! :D

Last session with the present pbl tutor on tue. Got quite a long break bef that, so a few of us went to the seminar rm earlie. Had a er fruitful discussion of pokemon though. Wonder if the tutor saw all the stuff written on the board. Hopefully our new tutor'll be something like him: talk a lot, less research n no presentation on our part. :~) He's a geriatrician btw, the new tutor, and our old tutor din tell us he's head of surgery in sgh!!

Becoming more n more lame lately... sigh. :P

As usual, pbl session shifted again, so this time my pbl grp (plus glo n ws n khai pang) played BOTH soccer n bball!! Ha ha. Both're fun, though some of us did find the bball too er bouncy after playing soccer on a grass field. So grass soft (unlike those in hc at certain times of the yr), longer time of contact with the ground, lesser force on the ball, grass absorbed more energy from the ball, so ball bounces less! Nvm. Guessed everyone played quite well, though we din reallie exert. Looking forward to badminton this wk!! Anyone free on thur 10 - 12? =D

Then wed we went nuh for some med simulation practical. Basically just viewed how a 250k manikin that can blink n can nearly talk or bite respond to er diff types of shock, n how its vital signs changed from normal to er very very bad using this machine. Then later went for lunch with john ernest isabel n weiting. Had fun making a nice cute smiley face using indian rojak leftovers and the chilli sauce (lips should be red!!). Er was about to add in some rosy cheeks when the cleaner lady. Think we reallie made her day...

Oh, n the days passed by quicker n quicker lately. Sian. Going out with my pegasus friends on th 9th of dec, 1 yr after enlistment. Cool rite!

Hopefully yff wun give me crap this wk again...

Health screening...

Went for my first public health screening yesterday afternoon. Nearly got lost when I thought it'd be held at the office building at the hdb hub n not at the mall. :p Nvm. Was asked to usher, which's supposedly a slack job. But it was so not lor, partly becos there're like 3 of us (meera shi hui n me, hope i spelt the names correctly) to direct all the ppl. Had to first sort out the ppl who wanna get tested for colorectal cancer by asking for their age n their family hist, bef explaining the whole procedure to them. Think the part about mailing their stools to the testing centre put some of them off a little. Quite sian sometimes when there's a whole queue of ppl waiting to be consulted after getting the basic tests done, or whole lot of ppl waiting to reg for the faecal testing. Din do the medical stuff though. :p But quite a nice exp seeing how the whole event's carried out. Eh so who went that i noe (at least, I saw): glo, jo (he came n supported!!!! :D:D), isabel, meera, shi hui, daryl, denise, joshua li, boo (ho chin), kevin n plenty of others. Went for dinner after that with a few of them inc isabel meera shi hui, bef goin' home, tired. Was like struggling to go buy food after sitting down. Legs just felt lazy...

Bball on thur with a few pbl mates since we'd no pbl then (tutor not free.. again). Was a total hilarious session. Lots of laughter as we all started to do weird things: rugby-style running, high high high pitch hiccup, ppl crawling on the floor.. and some visitors came n took a photo of us!! Ha ha. Nice game though. Soccer on tue anyone?

Stupid sian freak wk of yff.......... DAMN. Free fall now. Just hope a doesn't continue to increase above 9.81...

Oh, last sat some old sch mates of my dad came over, n we went out for dinner. Some thai food. (Lick ur fingers!! :p) Er one of them tried to er convert me n my sis over to christianity. Always as polite n courteous n diplomatic, we consented to let her er pray for us once, though to be frank I wasn't er paying much attention when she's talking. Doing what I always did when I was not bothered, I just gave occasional nods n smiles listening to her talk about those principles. =D Nvm. Me just not a religious person.

Badminton, maf, new term...

Played badminton last wk with glo john irene shaun n a few of glo's og. Quite fun, n lame! :p Exchanging drop shots with shaun, trying hard not to further injure a certain butt muscle (maximus), or shouting "shaun, goh, agitated, monkey" after every shot after he suggested calling out the names of the muscles instead, which i found to be er too med. We even played 4 v 4! Ha ha. Too bad not likely we'll play this wk, after all the courts're booked...

Maf on sat. =D Played a bit of soccer passing with john n yk, though could've been much more fun if we'd a bball. Somehow whole sch seems devoid of bballs (none in the bushes, at the class benches, behind the stairways, in the bandroom). Nvm. Went for dinner at ke ai ji, then went back in time to see the light-up. Tried out qq's presentie for us! Nice fireworks. The flame's damn nice. Would've been er cooler n more explosive if most of them manage to lift off. The first one did though, n we got a shock. Chased off by mr. loi, who asked us which sch we're from first, bef which yr. Nvm. Stupid haze. Reached 150 then! Prob due to er fun-loving n wild ppl in some sch celebrating maf.

New term le. Must stay focused. =D

Oh, saw shuang an some time at nuh last wk. 42 medic. So much for the efficiency of saf. He's been waiting there for a few hours le with the patient for the driver. Typical of army. Nice to see him again after so long lor. Was reminded again on the many ppl with whom I haven't been keeping in touch. A few quick updates. Dun wanna miss my sleep.

Og outing on fri. As usual, everyone's late. :p Had quite a long dinner at pizza hut, suntec, laming away most of the time. Like how keefe got tricked by grace n joanna that there's some exothermic rxn bet coke, pepper n chilli (we poured them out on a tray, then keefe placed his palm above it, n grace pressed it down...), how we went about deciding what to do after dinner (I thought of iceman... idea's quite well-met by a certain few ppl =D), bef we went up to arcade after some ben n jerry's. Stayed on quite late, till me n amir'd to rush to catch that last train. Amir got on his, while i missed the one near 12 am. Thought I'd to take a cab, bef i found out that there's another train some 12 mins later (12.09). Whew. Got keefe n grace to take train too, n got home at er 1 plus? Tired, so din manage to wake up in time to go soccer with band the next morn. Sorrie guys! =D

Quite sian about fantasy footie.. onlie 2 goals. Damn. Hopefully can remain in the top 500.

Recovery from injuries

Was browsing thru skysports just now. Background info: Jimmy Bullard, 1 fulham mid, had his leg crushed by Scott Parker, newcastle captain, in a epl match not long ago. ACL (some ligament) damage, out for about 9 months. This's what his manager, chris coleman, who was involved in some car accident last time, said of his injuries in an effort to er boost his morale:

"I told him I broke my ankle, I smashed my fibula in 16 different places, and had a compound fracture of my tibia and I ruptured my cruciate and medial ligaments, but still got back to the fringes of the first team."

Talking about being optimistic.

Last wk's nice. Fun lects (like the one in which the lect just showed us photos of er some ppl n asking us to diagnose), nice soccer sessions (more laming around)... Had my very first body test last fri. :p Results're er kind of expected (a little fats to be lost, n much muscles to be gained, esp in the upper body). Went there twice though, first time with irene n glo to do the test, n second time's with john n shaun. Shaun's like so fat-less lor. Onlie around 6 kg of it. Sh... :p

Og outing later on. Kinda surprised to hear that keefe's having dinner alone, as others're all over the place. Met up with him lor, since I need company for dinner too. So was the earliest to reach his house, n we played chinese chess! Ha ha. Can't remember the last time I actually played lor, but reallie quite fun. Then kenneth came, n we played mini weiqi. Oh, we started playing this silly game in which we've to use chess pieces to hit 1 particular chess "ball" over our opponents' boundary. Basically just involved flicking chess pieces using our fingers, pool-style.

Others slowly came, and we watched the movie "life's beautiful", which's quite a sad one. Touching of course, n nice, but sad. Then the fun started: risk! Me got cornered n wiped out earlie in the game... sad. At least quite fun to watch how others tried to er form n maintain alliances with one another. Lots of mvt, n lots of silent whisperings. Then the game got dragged for very long, as they all dun wanna break the alliances (after killing me of course). So we slowly took turns to knock off, n it's down to me aaron n amir. I represented to armies!! Nvm. So in the end eileen n keefe won when they're asleep. :p

Din sleep well, aircon too cold. Onlie two plus hours. Then had some morn chess with aaron (who also couldn't stand the cold), had breakfast, more cards, bef goin off. Damn tired, but still lasted till 2 plus next morn to see mu draw. Damn.

Forgot to mention about the 46 med platoon outing last sat. Great to see them lor (chen chen, wei hao, jing kai n chee keong went). (sgt) Vim forgot about it! =D Dinner at subway first bef we all went play lan. My first time! (So get thrashed.. nvm). Din reallie like dota, though always nice to play with human characters (sth which I hardly do). Er chen chen moved back to become coy med. Gd for him! Wei hao, next senior medic 2ic!! Ha ha. Reallie hope they pass thru the remaining 1 yr or so peacefully w/o much chiong sua.

Finally played soccer with the fellow m1s, at least some of them, on wed n fri. A person can onli efeel hiw cadaer but dun now where it's..

A long long due entry

Sorrie everyone. Din reallie keep this er bloggie up to date. Shall write stuff as I remember them...

Sent both yc n ms off earlie this mth. Do enjoy yourselves there k! No more late nights to go watch epl, great weather (hope it remains so), nice food.. =D Anw quite a few of us went to send them off, inc mr lee and mr remedios. Nice to see everyone again, though er we started learning cilia n centriole formation.. nvm.

Conference on professionalism on 1 fri n sat. Attendance sort of decreased exponentially with time, though many of those who stayed for the entire session were sleeping half the time. Anw eh missed half of sat's session to go play soccer in the morn, bef joining the rest later, and had great fun writing stuff on that smec banner. We all did crazy things like writing phone nos with msgs like "i am god's greatest gift to women" next to them, drawing mitochondria n smileys, writing "i wantS it that way"... :P Anw that's one of the few fun parts during the conference. Food not bad too.

Lessons've become faster n faster, like the heme lect today, when there's lots of writing to do. Anw some of u all may recall receiving a set of heme notes on the first day of term. It contains some relevant info i think, n def has a more readable arrangement. Dig it out if u can! Oh, have been sleeping less n less during lectures! Hurray!!!

Fantasy football. After a rather slow start, was now right outside the top 1000 places (12 sth i think). Wanna break into top 500 by end of the season...

Mu 100% record ended at the hands of ars... sadded. Soccer tmr! First time playing with the m1s. Weather better be gd.

Eh went after a car last nite. Nvm. Was walking to grace's house with a few of them after dnd when kenneth's car drove past. It's quite near her doorstep le, so a few of us started running after it. I did not start this thingy lor, eileen n gerard did i think. :p Anw managed to keep up with the car which slowed down quite a bit, but eileen n gerard stopped halfway. Then I waited for them along with the car-riders. They never came, n we suddenly realised we're on the wrong street, forgetting a turn. So the blaming game started, with some being blamed for not reading the directory properly, n me for distracting the rest. Nvm.

Then of course transfers of ct n jm to west ham. We'll see in a few yrs time how these major coups actually came about...

Dnd just ended. Reached home like an hour ago. Shall talk about it later in a mo. A fun wk lor, from last sun to today. Had a 79 outing the previous outing at sentosa. As usual, many ppl're late. :p Quite a gd turnout lor, around 13. Played beach soccer (the girls've quite a gd game), had a short break at 7-11, bef going for dinner at pasta mania. Great to see everyone again!

Then schooling for the entire wk. Nothin much to say. Just that the smell of cadavers's getting stronger n stronger from wk to wk. Prof samuel tay getting lamer n lamer, glorifying everything and somehow bringing in ferrari into the context of upper limbs.

Oh, teachers' day on fri. Happie teachers' day! Ha ha. Eh went back to sch late, cos of lessons, n that our biochem rep dayrl read out some announcements from the biochem dept which took up quite some time due to er unforseen technical difficulties. Nvm. So only saw Mr. Lee's head that day. =D

Then fri, met up with the rest to see ms off. Mr. remedios too! Around 10 went i think, inc xingmao. Er went to buy presents with ws. Got the cd rather fast, though finding the wrapping's er troublesome, cos most shops dun wrap external products. Sian. Have a nice time there k! Then after seeing ms off, we all went jap ramen for dinner. A few of them quite pissed that they'd to spend a few bucks on a drink which effectively onlie cost one buck in some promotion. Me n cy got the most cost-effective option, spending a little more than five bucks. We did've fun catching up though, telling stories about nus, ntu, army. But the 9 + 2 arrangement's like dotz.

Dun wanna be so out-of-the-place in the ballrm, so er just wore it lor. The headdress could be used as a mask to cover our faces!! Nvm. Admit we guys did've some qualms over wearing that at first, since we din even noe how it looked like. :p Eh anw the guys lost our way at mandarin, ended up crashing some other party of some sec sch girls. All of them staring at us lor. Nvm. Found our way there, n reallie the girls spent quite some effort on their costumes. Eh so dnd, which's mainly photo-taking, performance n dinner. The dance part's er quite a failure, cos most of us left rite after the last band performance. Anw went grace's house after that for a stayover, since I'd already missed the last train. Cards all the way till 4, n enjoyed a er gd rest till 9 plus, n here I'm.

Played bball today! Woohoo! With xiao john. Keefe went initially, but left bef touching a ball due to er him wearing long jeans under the hot weather. :p Eh many many ppl came, like 100 plus. Ended up taking turns to play. Er felt some deg of intimidation by the over-sized ppl there. Din reallie contribute much too, though i scored!! Nvm.

1st wk of yff ended. Not that pleased, but an ok start. Hope to make further inroads into the top few positions by next mon!

Lessons after lessons le. Though this wk still rather slack cos of 2 days of first aid. The test's er very very passable cos of the examiners who wanted us to pass. So sch ended the earliest ever (12 plus on wed, 10 plus on thur), n went home for lunch, sth which's quite rare since jc.

Ha ha. The first game of epl's under way le, with liverpool seemingly dominating sheffield united. Let's hope all results're favourable! :p

Anw the last few days've been quite enjoyable, as in the lessons. Thur's anat pract's cool, even though my tut grp's lesson's of double the length as that of others. But that means we got to see all 10 cadavers n try finding stuff like veins n intestines etc. Fri pbl. Just glad my grp'd a nice prof, n fun teammates to brighten up the whole discussion. Heard from others that a few of the tutors, like the docs, are quite er unethu about the whole thing. Then met up with my og for lunch at biz, n stayed there all the way, chitchating, playing cards, till 4 plus since we'd some dean's welcome tea at 5. Slept thru it though, n the welcome talk's more like a prize presentation for the dean listers than a welcome address.

Ha ha. So uni life began a few days ago. :p Mad rush to photocopy notes these days, esp when I dun've a gd enough printer. Thus, aladdin printing services. Do sign up k! =D Still, kind of scary that the lib's crowded with m1s most of the time, esp during breaks, like the 4h one bef first aid on tue. My og booked a room in the lib too, but spent most of the time blasting off one another's worms. Nvm. Quite er surprised to see ppl starting to feel stressed out. It's like, the first three days lor. Must conserve energy for the long run!

Ha. Was damn sleepy last nite that I asked ppl in my og to meet some time earlier than 8, like 8.15. Nvm. Our rag rox. Best dance, best float presentation. =D Must be due to the funnel banners n the ppl holding them. :p

Anw, fri nite's a long long nite. After the full-dress we went to crash amir's room at ke, bef walking to shear's hall to dina's one. Then walked all the way to med soc rm, trying some short cut thru central lib n ending up at pgp. Nvm. Go look at the nus map to have a rough idea on how long we walked. Then did some float work, had fun with bridge n dai ti, and played badminton! :p After that it's cards again, till 3 plus, bef being called into action. Got a scare when we knew we're supposed to paint ourselves, even though our face'll not be seen. Nvm. So daylight next, n we moved to src. Stoned there, slept on the track, till the show at 10 plus. Din lag like in the rehearsals, n was damn glad when the thing's over. Slippers broke though, so had to walk back with 1 foot bare to med soc rm n change. Sad.

Went to er olivia's house after lunch. Why so many of my og mates lived in bungalows n semi d?? Ha. As usual, games, dinner, but left earlie. Tired. Still got two tuitions one after another today. Nvm. But quite fun to've like 1 stayover every wk, in sch or in friends' houses.

Uni starts next. Still wondering the way I should work in sch. Mug? Slack? Level of commitments? Sigh. Kind of interesting that we all like to complain about the situation we're in, like in ns we'll all complain n miss sch, n now in sch when we'll dread all the lects n tuts. :p

Hurray! Finally, after long wks of waiting, yff's back! :p Can't wait for the new season to begin, buying players like ballack, rosicky and shevchenko for like around 6 bucks. Nvm. 79, interested to play again?

Eh so inaug ceremony yesterday. Total boredom. File isn't that nice, event started late, though most farnie to see last yr's inaug video, when the mcs n nussu pres used nearly exactly the same words n style to address us, like "welcome to nus". Reallie keeping up with the "spirit of originality". Float work later, finished the clocksworth costume. Looks great! Ha ha. Din change out of my long sleeve though, n cheryl (ogl ic)'s saying sth like i looked diff, n should wear it more often. Prefer shorts n t-shirts though.

Flag day today. Aladdins got posted to orchard! Not a bad place, though saw quite a wide range of ppl. Got one extreme of ppl volunteering to donate even though we din ask for it, n got another who just daoed. Nvm. Din reallie get as much money as others, partly cos I dun donate to flag days myself, and found it hard to ask others.

Ha ha. Basically the last wk's been float all the way. Came down on most days, except wed which's a rest day. Though the girls in my og still came down n sew. Did some sewing too, though it's a failure. Nvm. Eh worked till nine on thur, cos had to be ready by fri for full dress. Tiring. But the qc ppl said that costume rox. =D Anw er rapunzel abandoned their sphinx. So bad lor. Then kenrick (1 of our rag ic)'s to do all the work for them...

Hope i din miss anyone out. Anw started off with playing asshole daiti-cum-building a lego army. King n queen get to win some warriors from the pool. Nvm. Eh then pizza for dinner (had five), bef watching some horror movie. Then watched mu vs porto, celebrated jun yang's bday, and played some silly games till five plus, bef turning in. Was damn tired today, lucky my tutee's tired too, so lesson ended earlie.

So, finally officially a nus student. Cool rite. Matriculation's a breeze, the admin part at least. The maze after that, forget it. Forced to go thru all the booths, even though was rushing to like go sign bond. That means din reallie get to go thru all of them, so have not much idea on like what cca to join. Anw sun outing's a fiasco. :p Sorrie for the horrendous organizing. Tried to go to woodlands lib after meeting up with a few of them, and found out that someone activated the fire alarm. Whole place shut down. Damn.

Went down nus quite a bit this wk, after goin' mia most of the time last wk. Had to finish all work tmr, full dress rehearsal fri. Heard guys in aladdin'd be learning sewing tmr. How it'd work out, shall see. :p Anw got ppl still ask when float work'll start online. Think many ppl who've been working damn hard for the past two wks'll have er somethin' to say about it.

Eh so rag day preps. Going well i think. Felt a little guilty about missing a few sessions, but couldn't be helped. Though'd a hilarious time when dina (i think) started the paint spilling by knocking over a green can of paint, n followed by another person addin' too much of black paint on a piece of paper, n me spilling some of it on amir (i think)'s billabong t-shirt n floor. Nvm. Went to keefe's house after that for pizza n some games. Taboo's fun! =D Din stay over though. Hopefully got some other time. They're thinking of going subway lagoon for a few days bef term starts. :p

Ha ha. Medicamp's fun! A little sian that I missed the last nite n the last day becos of some interview for a scholarship that's like onlie awarded to 1 or 2 ppl per yr (last yr's 1 i heard). Anw, in aladdin og (orientation grp). Got a few ppl from hc there (around 5 out of 19 or 20), inc jess. Ha. Strange way of grping ppl into ogs by the m2s. Some memorable activities: fright nite, which's damn cool; entire wet games + captain's ball after that; bbq when we'd a nice time trying to start the stupid fire; cooking competition performing the small skit, n listening to a fantastic indian performance by keefe, and many others. Damn tired today, after failing to sleep well on the past few days (not enough sleeping space lor, kept on waking up earlier than the rest, once being sent to collect breakfast since i got up the earliest among the m1s), so din go soccer. Sorrie ws n ms!

Anw starting my first tuition tmr le. Onlie thing i noe about my tutee's that he or she wants a-level phy, n his or her add. Yes, i dun even noe the gender n the age! Ha ha. Managed to get the assignment thru registering online. Hopefully can still remember some stuff tmr. Din do much preparations lor. :D

Oh, n a small note on aladdin industries. My og'd a fun time making a sturdy shield n paddle (to hit away water bombs) for the "queen" using newspaper for the war games. Reallie proud of them lor (the weapons), as they dun bend when anyone swing it, unlike many others. Nvm.

World cup's fault. Not that I'm complaining about the goals though, or complaining that italy knocked er kahn-less germany out... Missed today's game though. Somehow I din manage to catch the alarm placed rite beside me. Damn.

Med check-up's fault. Singaporean's ks mentality. I went there rite at the opening hour, but then ended up waiting quite some time with ying liang, n walking arould raffles place till 1230. Got a few ppl bef me though, so some went even bef that place opened. Wow. Should've gone later...

Oh, n I'm now even heavier. Ha.

Post-ns life's been er trouble-free, peaceful, quiet, n reallie reallie nothin-to-do. Stayed home most of the time, watching tv, using comp... Did manage to meet up with a few ppl though for lunch, soccer, food fair. Lateness seems to be a norm for a certain sgt-gonna-be-bef-disrupting...

Sch starts in a mth's time, n I should seriously start researching on the bks to be bought. Heard they're nearly sold out le. Wtj.

Since I'm watching the world cup, might as well give a short review. Eng vs portugal just finished. Ricardo's a penalty monster. Sian. At least there's still a man utd player in ronaldo in the next match, possibly against brazil. Going to watch the next match, which means later today i'll have a hard time keeping myself awake. Prob the eng match showed how defensive tactics'll just flop sooner or later.

Oh, and i'm pissed with the red card showed to rooney. Just a friendly push lor, not reallie a shove lor. Also, u've more severe tackles given a yellow card at most. Prob a bit bias on my part, since rooney's a red devil. Why did they ask an argentinian referee to take charge of this match though, considering the past differences between these two sides...

Btw, ferguson prob won't mind the red card much, cos it ensured rooney won't injure himself during the world cup...

Anw, looking back on my short stay in 46 sar. Enjoyed the work there most of the time at the medical centre, n loved the type of slacking life that I've had (not typical of any armour unit though). Though've to say, I was disturbed by some of the politics present. Ppl not getting along with one another, ppl unhappy about decisions made by others... I mean, ppl're not that willing to compromise, such as not wanting to do duties or covers, and others've to suffer becos of that. The nicer medics (like me :p) who won't offend others're asked to do more work lor. Nvm. Glad to leave the bad parts behind, while the gd parts're quite memorable, like drawing blood, sending patients, common fear of some sgt major...

Just reached home (at around twelve). Din get much sleep last nite, being at a class world cup outing at mr. lee's house. Quite a few ppl came (around 10, dun feel like listing them all). The german match rox, with farnie stuff like showing oliver kahn many many times, displaying the sarcastic smile of the referee when he sent off 1 player, lehmann mishandling the ball, nearly causing an own goal... Argentina match's a let-down, after a promising start by the 2 nations. No wonder many ppl slept thru that match. :p Played soccer earlie too, which's very hilarious, esp when ppl just dun wanna score (cos they dun wanna be keeper). Dinner with kenni nono n yk at thai noodle house. Weird that we're talking mainly about ns stuff when we told the aunt that we're from hc to enjoy the student prices... A wild nite!

Did my last duty medic last wed. One hell day too, with one of the ambulance stuck at ah for most of the day. Then for some unknown reason i decided to write (ippt ended. NO CASUALTIES.) in the log book, n ended up getting two casualties at six plus after office hours, n sending another 3 patients along with those two to tengah using the other ambulance which i was not supposed to touch at all, in case it's to be activated. But at least could sleep on a mattress that nite, since no more patients're left unattended other than those hospitalised.

Disruption next sat. Shall enjoy 1 month of slack, even though I may leave the medical centre needing even more manpower next month to deal with around 200 more new recruits from bmt...

Dun feel like sleeping. Dun want to disrupt my body clock...

As I've said below, the last two wks're damn damn busy. Working non-stop in the medical centre, screening so many recruits who like to report sick for minor stuff like ankle sprain, muscle tight n blah blah. Ok lah. Some're reallie real cases, but quite sian when u've to register so many ppl. And still need to do so many ecgs, urine tests, visual aquity tests for recruits, ord personnel, and even reservists. Oh, and work till sat too. Onlie booked out sat morn. Once to jab the recruits, and yesterday's voluntary. Went for cover on fri for saf day rehearsal, which lasted from earlie morn to nite. Driver's late! =D He's still a private lor, and going to ord soon (in aug i think). Nvm. Beside the pt. So, what i did there: waited for the warrant officer for an hour, bef getting my walkie talkie, then went to safti medical centre n slacked. Basically, role's to send any casualty (from the parade) from the medical centre to other places like nuh if needed. In other words, do nothin' at all. Then at nite was made to go all over the place n wait, like the diff carparks (A, K, I), bef finally going back camp at 9 plus. Decided to stay on yesterday to earn another half day off. Tired. Have to say, prefer to work at armour medical centre than safti. MO much nicer!

Anw, got many interesting cases too at armour. Suidical cases, p cases, n many more. Can't reveal much though. Medical-in-confidence, which means all the medics'll be gossiping about it. :p

World cup feva. Quite sad that I'd onlie managed to watch 3 live matches so far. Nice game earlie this morn, watching cech pulling numerous saves, onlie to see ghana win in the end. Oh, n m'sia deliberately sent a poorer quality of feed to us, so we couldn't watch the world cup using their channel rtm2. Fri nite was damn farnie in the med centre. All the medics staying behind was so desperate to watch the world cup on rtm 2 that they tried manual tuning all the tvs in the medical centre. Never knew there're so many tvs there lor. We even brought out an antenna from the tv inside the lect rm to a bigger one in the waiting rm, to see if the quality's better. Imagine us rotating the antenna round n round like a radar when the tv's auto-tuning... We din succeed in the end. Ha.

So much for crapping. Heard disruption letter out next wk. Pray hard!

Ojt finally ended on wed, with a theory n pract test. Din study much for it, n wrote some er hilarious answers on the script (though quite sure there're ans that're more funnie that what I wrote). Nvm. Went for a ride around singapore earlie that day too, to look at some of the evacuation routes during civilian disasters. Trying very hard to keep awake throughout the trip (sitting rite in front of the sergeant!), and dozed off rite away when he said we could rest a while. Liked the lunch too, at ecp mac and changi village food court. Not often that we could get out of camp n enjoyed some er.. nutritional liberty. Our sergeant actually went for the trip 8 times lor, which's quite unbelievable cos i felt sian even going thru it once.

Kenna spot check on the bunk by our csm who just returned. Whole place in mess, so not surprising that we've a 2 hour area cleaning after working hours. Tv got confiscated too, so couldn't watch the opening match yesterday. Sigh. And today'd to stay back in camp to jab the new recruits! Quite fun to poke though, as some ppl came to get injections feeling so nervous that it's fun to watch them respond to the needles. Total of 200 plus ppl to get jabbed (2 times, plus a few drops under the tongue for typhoid, tetanus, polio) though, so imagine preparing n jabbing so many times. Took a little less than 4 hours to finish. Ha.

Drawing blood's fun! =D Ipre's like so boring at times if u've nothin to do, so a few of us new medics just crowded in the treatment room n watched our seniors draw blood from the ord-personnel (ffi for them bef they ord). Then our senior decided to allow us to practise drawing blood on the patients, bef most of us got our blood test done by our fellow peers. :p Talking about drawing of bld. Heard one case of some medic causing whole hand to experience hematoma when trying to draw bld from a major. How that happens, i've absolutely no idea lor. Reallie, how difficult can drawing of bld be? Nvm. Enjoying my day off tmr!

Went down uhwc to get my bld test done today, since i'd an off day today!! Totally rox. Nvm. Saw quite a few ocs guys there though, like yion (i think that's how his name's spelt) n a few hc guys. Drawing of bld's short n sweet, n def doesn't hurt much (think of all the 16G needles in the past...).

Oh, and why off today. Cos armour med centre's some ipre (influenza blah blah exercise). Basically getting some audits to access their ability to handle an outbreak, so new medics not involved. Will go back tmr n help out though. But find it a little unfair that some units've off, while others've to stay back at company line. Din reallie wanna tell others that 46's off on wed n fri, though not very impressed that christopher (one of my fellow 46 new medics) din appreciate the fact that some din get off, n instead happily went around n said to everyone that there's off. Nvm. His own personality, so cannot be faulted.

Can't wait for the mindef letter to arrive le. But interesting. Out of the 4 medics posted to 46, 1 may disrupt for med, 1 may disrupt for fencing (national competition), n 1 may sign on navy. So, worst case, there may onlie be 1 medic left this july or aug. HA.

Quite sad about my weight now... Gained quite a few kilos. Sigh.

Long day yesterday. Played soccer at amk with jo wj n takwee with his friends, before going off to sentosa for platoon outing. Late for both occasions, though i was def not the latest! =D Catered lunch arrived more than an hour late, while less than half of the platoon who're supposed to turn up came. Quite sad lor. Kept quite a low profile yesterday, cos afraid of being dunked into the water after seeing quite a few ppl becoming victims. But rather bored lah. Just played soccer n frisbee, bef sitting down n chit-chat with sergeants n a few others. Managed to make a sliding tackle into one of my sergeants (sergeant kong) who was disrupting our soccer game by dribbling the ball all over the place (fouled him too i think). Dinner damn late too, so couldn't be bothered to wait any further (dad agreed to come fetch my bro from sch n me). Quite nice to see them too though, and def more interesting to hear others complain about their units.

Decided le. Worried about making the wrong choice? Not reallie i think. Shall look forward to uni life now!

Went down mti (former smm) again today to collect my posting results, after some er.. administrative or technical error that made it impossible to let know the results by yesterday. Quite stupid that we'd to exchange our 11b for a visitor pass at the guard house, seeing that it's not feasible to let 200 plus ppl go exchange cards (do they've enough in the first place or not). Nvm. Just showed how inflexible saf can be.

So, noe posting le. Quite sian about it. 46 sar (armour regiment). Disrupt!! For now, just get on with it lor. Bloody ulu place. Onlie one side of the road's street lamps, while the other side's pavements for us to walk. Wtj. Hopefully can remain at their medical centre...

There's always a first time for everything. Woke up damn earlie today to go big walk at national stadium with quite a few others from 79. Slack walk, stopping at suntec to've a gd break outside citylink seven eleven, n continued the walk after that. Quite a big crowd though, but easy to spot our class jersey among the majority of white t-shirts. Lunch at suntec food court, followed by da vinci, which's quite nice, though a little sian cos i just read the bk in camp.

Happy for those who get into what they want (scholarships, med, dent, other stuff that u all love), n others who din get in, no worries, cos just work hard in uni n u'll find many many light bulbs in the days ahead (bright future). Seven from 79 in med at least!!! Woohoo!

Last book in into nee soon. Shall treasure the last 4 days!

Ha. Got effectively two days off to go interviews this wk, once even missing chemical defence. Left camp in the morn, n came back just a little too late to go off with the rest of the platoon to another camp. So had a whole afternoon to myself! :p

Vesak day today. Went back sch n played some light soccer with bandmates (joel, jun yang, alwyn, milton + a few seniors). Too bad couldn't make it to platoon soccer (at the same time lor), but din reallie miss much. Din reallie like smokers a lot, though they're definitely fun ppl to be with.

Class outing tmr! Ha. More ppl pls go! Looking forward to see everyone again.

Anw, today's def an afternoon for mu supporters. First up, at 1pm, the 4-0 thrashing of charlton (missed all the goals though. Should have on the tv earlier). Then next, at 3, keano's testimonial match between mu n celtic. Rossi rox! =D

Ha. A tiring wk! :p My first medic's obstacle course on fri, after missing the first one some time ago. Damn unlucky to be the last grp of my platoon to go, so had to compete with other platoons to see who finished first (and got to book out the earliest). Sian. So ran like mad lor. But quite fun! =D

MRF selection throughout the wk. Medical response force. Would've liked it if those ppl do not need to be so xiong wearing the mask. Had a chance to try it on n do some statics. Quite shiok though.

Attended capriccio last nite. Great to see all the juniors, n many of the seniors too. Rather strange to be sitting in the crowd n watching the hc band play, but a great concert!

Ha ha. Seeing that I haven't touched this blog for quite some time, decided to do it some justice now.

Medic course: now at military phase, after 6 wks of slacking during the paramedic phase. Apart from getting one or two off-passes every wk to go interviews, assessment centres n what's not, it's been very very slack. Certifications so far: CPR (Basic cardiac life support), which's valid for two years, n paramedic level I. =D More outfield nowadays, though how xiong can a medic course be? But life'll be very diff when posted to unit soon. Though it may be more slack, everyone'll be worrying over whether any injuries may occur when we go on cover. If we dun manage any casualties properly, db. Sad. Now just enjoy the last three to four wks there lor!

Last two weekends have reallie been frantic. Rushed the med essay in less than a day after onlie being notified on that sat. And deadline for submission's on a stupid weekday 4 days away, so no time to go get references n edit essay properly. Ended up using testimonials, which I hope won't be inferior to the references that other ppl may have. Then the last weekend. Thur to sat: one interview per day. Sun: Med essay, which reallie's a challenge to all of us. Mon: assessment centre, n finally wed, two rounds of med interviews. Quite tired after all that, not to mention having a guard duty on the day before med interviews, plus two medic tests bef wed.

Talking about guard duty. Kenna this extra cos i din sign the bookout quite some time ago. Booked out earlie then on a fri, n in the rush to leave, just forgot about it. Nvm lor. Anw, watched the champions league semifinal between ars n villareal then! Ha. Even funnier: supposed to go prowling for 2 hrs, but ended up walking onlie for around 10 min, as we started late, went some training shed to sleep, then went back half an hour earlie.

Oh yeah. My first nites off on wed! :p Rushed home, slacked for a while, then went back. Any amt of time outside camp's to be valued! Played soccer in camp too, on thur. Illegally of course, but who cares. Reallie need some exercise lor. Exercise's reallie something lacking in camp.

Epl title over.. sian. Looking forward to next season!

First, dozed off for the nite when I thought I'd get a short rest bef watching the mu game earlie this morn. Quite sian. Then found out mu could onlie get a goalless draw against the bottom team. Crap. A blow to their title hopes. But more hilariously, the official mu webbie posted the wrong lineup for mu a short while bef yff lockdown, resulting in many yff players dropping ppl like ronaldo, n later discovering their mistakes before trying to get them back (at a higher price). Some even just missed the deadline, n had a few empty slots in their team. =D

Quite sian that there's no news yet about nus med, n the deadline for submission for portfolio's just like one wk away. And with me being stuck in camp from mon to wed... wtj. Nvm.

Ha. Epl action can be reallie hilarious at times. Man city keeper james first received a backpass, controlled it, n tried dribbling past robbie keane in yesterday's match between mc n tottenham. He got past keane, but lost the ball to mido, who escaped a frantic two-footed challenge from the hapless keeper. Din score though, which's quite wasted. But reallie a joke to watch him play.

Are canteen breaks (in ns) a privilege or an entitlement? Two wks bef, we're banned from it. In the past wk though, canteen breaks everyday! Ha ha. Getting fat le, with drumsticks, paos, m & m, hello panda... u name it!

Ha. Has been 2 long wks since I updated this blog. Been kept busy lately, and will remain so for quite some time.

Anw, updates. Choking toilets, hps confiscated, life at smm becoming more n more interesting. First two successful ivs, and more to come. No doubt it'd slowly become more n more painful, as the size of needles'll soon increase, lengthwise n breathwise. But still enjoying myself there, after passing the first test there. Done in group level, so basically as long as u dun kenna those hard qns, it's very hard to fail. :p

Ha. Class outing at dragon pheonix last nite. Not too bad. Most ppl turned up, and reallie quite nice to see everyone again. Food's gd, karaoke's fun to watch, and basically had gd chats with many. Mr. remedios, mr. lee and mr. tan're the onlie teachers who turned up though. Would've been better if more of them came. But nvm. Then after that we all split, those who wished to go home go home, those who wanna watched soccer went mr. lee's house (quite a fair few), and many others (inc me) went to watch a 0015 show, v for vendetta. At least fewer ppl slept this time during the movie, compared to that time at genting, Great show, nice humour, some blood 'n gore. Ended at two plus though, which's.... not too late. :p Went home, on the tv, on the comp (after taking a bath), n was quite happy with the epl results, esp the scorers. Broke into the top 1000. =D Din get into mit though. Nvm.

Sad rite. All gd things'll come to an end. =D Enjoying block leave now. Went out nearly everyday (except tue), to get references, send mails, go for interview, have lunch outings, open houses... Nice life!

Short update, cos I dun reallie have much time. Went SP interview earlier in the morn. Have some hope of getting it, but what reallie strikes me's the friendliness of the ppl there. One of sp people sit down n talked to us (the interviewees) who're waiting down there. Talked a lot about sp, uni, n even ns! Think she's shocked that i told her pegasus coy allowed us to watch movies one fine afternoon. Interview quite short, around 15 mins, partly becos one of the two interviewers'd an urgent meeting, so left onlie one to speak to me. HA!

Soccer!

Ha. Played soccer today at chs with a couple of others. Think most of us're quite rusty, with wayward passes n tackles n shots, not forgetting me repeating the howler of not letting the ball roll out, but instead trying to control it, n ended up presenting a goal to the opposition. A little deja vu... But overall quite fun!

Mu won, liverpool lost. What does this show? Mu rox! :p

Anw, went ntu n nus open house last weekend. Think everyone's a better idea on what to apply... I'll wait. But def nus if wanna stay local. Found its campus nicer n easier to navigate around, not forgetting more bus services out of the sch!

SAF band auditions...

Yeah. Went nee soon camp this morn. Not too bad a place. 40 min bus ride, which's nothin compared to the time taken to go tekong. Though for some reason the band hq's located quite far in. Had to climb slopes n walk far to get there. Nvm. So, started with practising one piece for a while n playing it in front of an officer, before sight reading another piece. Somehow felt sight reading piece's easier to play. Weird. Must be the accidentals present before many of those notes n weird places in the main piece.

Anw, saw quite a few hc band members there. Even saw seng han (outside nee soon camp), who got a one bar on his shoulder, and got posted to seletar camp. Went with raymond (another pegasus guy), who somehow managed to drop his visitor pass along the way to the auditions. So, took some time to search for it, tracing the route twice, finally finding it with a cleaner uncle who's using some machine to suck dry leaves up. If we hadn't found it, had to go make police report, go cmpb, pay fifty bucks as fine, n finally taking the receipt back to nee soon to get back the 11b. Might as well just buy a new 11b lor.

11b refers to the ic btw.

Chelsea sux. Seriously. Can't stand their attitude. Glad they met barca in the quarter finals, who easily strolled past them! HA HA.

Block leave le, which means essays to write. Sigh. Nvm. Two apps down, many many more to go! :p Jiayou!

Decide to blog bef starting on the strenous process of applying for scholarships...

24 km over! Hurray! Even though the route we took's 2 or 3 km longer than that, and involved going around in circles n thru weird places. There's one part where it's so dark that we couldn't even see the person right in front of us. Our CO said it's one of the toughest 24 km ever. So, well done sch 2!

Anw, release of results last wed. Those who've done well, great! Those who haven't, don't lose heart. Still got a long way to go. Have fun applying for unis n scholarships!

Sigh. Next wk shall be busy, both in tekong n outside:

soc, 24-km route march (assuming the oc allows me to jump from 12 to 24 rite away, without doing the 16k), release of "a" results, shortlisting scholarships, writing essays, graduation parade rehearsals, n of course, fantasy football.

So, wishlist this march n possibly april:

1. Time to fly, so I can get out of tekong faster.
2. Get into a slack unit.
3. Good results + shortlisted for scholarship interview (infocomm seems not bad!) + offers from schools and scholarships.
4. Break into top 2000, n possibly 1500, of yff. Must sustain the recent revival!
5. Mu to thrash every team it meets, starting from today, n chel to start losing (ars ah. They can forget about top 2; even top 4's a prob for them.)

Mourinho reallie sux. Sore loser. But prob that's what makes him a hated, but great, manager. Messi!!!

Predictions for the top 6 in the premiership table:

Ha. One of my slackest wk ever. Let me list down the daily events:

Mon: Volunteered for guard duty, partly cos there's a chance i'll do today (owed at least three or four guard duties le), n also cos guard duty means i'll get to rest for the entire morn the next day. :p

Tue: Rest in morn, basic assault course in afternoon, which finished in 25 mins by the entire coy (less than half of the coy took part), n BOOK OUT at nite!!! Navy interview earlie on the next day.

Wed: Navy interview in the morn, which lasted for 10 mins. Was the second to be interviewed, so had lots of free time later to go canteen. Then went back to tekong at 1530 onlie for dinner...

Thur: A long day. Strength training first, which could've been terrible if it hadn't rained. Then slack till afternoon for soc. Quite interesting to see the pti n some of the instructors delaying the timing for soc, till it became quite dark (possible thunderstorm approaching), n rejoicing when it finally rained. Then all the commanders'd a discussion on whether to have soc or not, n the oc demanded that it continued (no cat one siren, which seemed to be dying out lately. Haven't heard it for quite some time.) So, soc till dinner.

Fri: ippt earlie in the morn. No surprises there, failing chin-ups, but just glad that my 2.4 improved. So, my vision "be a man, do the rite thing (at the rite time)", is being realised after all. No ocs n sispec, n can slack for the next two yrs.

Fri nite: book out! =D

Oh. Some of my platoon mates're supposed to go for re-bic (forgot what it stands for le, just leopard- n back-crawling on sand for 100m under real life firing) this sat (today), but the sergeants all don't wanna stay back n do bic. So, solution? Force the recruits to do guard duty today, n the sergeants can book out. Smart rite. SAF reallie reallie rox.

Wed results out le. Which means have to settle scholarship issues soon...

Oh. Regarding the title of this entry, quite true rite? Must learn to slack using official reasons, n not go report sick many times. Going mo's a total waste of time lor.

Anw, went to the uni of london exhibit at conrad today. Quite surprised that not many hc ppl went. Onlie saw qi qin, shiling, tai ge (hope i spelt the name correctly). Even more surprised to see j1s like yu guang at first, but later realised that the talks're more relevant for those who haven't applied thru ucas. But overall talks still not bad lah. Though most of the info can be found in the prospectuses.

Book out always rox.

Tekong's reallie a bloody sian place to stay in. So used to the routine way of life there that many ppl're getting sick of it. And with instructors tekaning recruits just becos a few of us laughed at them wearing admin (army grey t-shirt plus black shorts) with boots. We're all made to wear this... cute attire too n do push ups in it. Sian.

First time hearing heat alert last wk, when the weather reallie becomes very very hot. Gd thing: clothes dry faster. Bad thing: end too soon. And on one of the days with heat alert, we all did strength training (dumbbells n med balls) in the multipurpose hall. Wtj, cos the fans can't be switched on! Surprised no one suffered from any heat exhaustion wearing that long foil, or fell out.

Bottomline: army sux.

Hope to join the saf band. Was quite sad when my name isn't called for the music n drama auditions next wk. But later found out that band n music n drama're two diff org residing at the same campsite (nee soon camp! so near to my house!!!). So, gd luck for those going for auditions next wk (jo for instance), n hopefully can go for the band auditions.

Went for ntu talk at hotel intercontinental just now. Late, so missed half of triple e talk. Quite surprised to see nanyang business sch ranked so high in the region, though it's def more fun watching those prof playing down nus n smu, n even rejecting the stats that smu grads've a higher starting salary than ntu. Lunch rox too. KFC! Nvm.

CNY celebs!

Ha ha. Not a bad cny this yr. Reunion dinner just like any other normal dinner, with just my immediate family (all other relatives overseas), with more dishes though. Great to eat a lot more after 7 days in the jungle. Can't say we all starved during field camp, cos we'd fresh rations on two of the days, n both lunches consisted of western! :p Anw, that also means I din reallie get much hong bao, cos not many places to go bai nian, so reallie slacked at home often during the hols. With the puny 350 allowance each mth, reallie have to save up. But as I dun reallie need to worry much about meals n tpt n accommodation, dun reallie've to worrie too much now.

Oh. And i used my bro's ezlink card yesterday! =D

Class outing yesterday at liming's house. Quite a few ppl went, inc some guys who're about to book in for more training at tekong a few hours later. Was the earliest, n surprisingly, not many who're supposed to reach at 1030 are late. (Prob cos many more ppl came later, n there isn't ws. :p) Made our way to lm's house, where we played cards n chatted 'bout tekong mainly. Pizza, then soccer, then lau yu sheng, then more cards. Guess the most fun thing's playing blackjack n "in between" after lau yu sheng. Din win or lose much during blackjack (betting 10c all the way), but won a little for in between, after getting two rounds of nice cards. Poor jy. Intro us to in between, got an ace and a king, then ended up getting another ace, losing 10 over bucks on paper.

Btw, in between's a card game involving each person taking two cards, then betting (if he or she wants) that the next card'll be something in between. If the next card's of the same card as any of the two cards, the person'll lose double. Oh. If the two cards're the same, person'll bet if the next card's higher or lower. Two times, wj got nice cards, and bet quite a bit, but ended up getting the same card! Not bad. Nvm. Gambling's bad guys. Must control! Can end up losing a lot if u aren't careful...

Dinner later at IMM. A few'd already left by then, before five of us (me, no no, lm, ms, jess) stayed on n chatted after eating. Chatted quite some time about basically everything, till nine plus. Guess everyone just wants the hols to be a little longer! Think my next hol's during the release of a level results, which I heard maybe a little earlier this yr. Would reallie just freak out if it's released next wk. Imagine delaying applying for scholarships till after A levels, cos no time in dec, n def no time in tekong. Suddenly've to settle everything two wks after the release of "a"s.......

Oh. Who already thinking of, or dreading, the results? Guess all, or most, of the ns guys won't; we onlie wanna look forward to the next meal or next book out.

Seriously why does duncan ferguson've to come on n punch someone in the stomach after just ten mins? Brainless.
